UCC Justice and Witness Ministries (JWM) is one of four Covenanted Ministries in the UCC, helping local congregations and all settings of the church, to respond to God’s commandments to do justice, seek peace and effect change for a better world. The work of JWM is guided by the resolutions approved by the UCC at General Synod.
SOCIAL and JUSTICE work by the Southwest Conference.
Justice and Witness Ministries has created an Immigrant Care Coordinator to contact our local churches to determine what we can do to help immigrants and where the churches can use support, cooperating with others who are working with immigrants. The coordinator will be the main contact for churches around the country who want information.
How about The Church of the Red Rocks and Social Justice?
The congregation voted to adopt the Open and Affirming (ONA) Resolution at the 2012 Annual Congregational Meeting. Their vote acted as a catalyst to the organization of the Social Justice Committee. The Church of the Red Rocks, in its more than 50 years, has seen its ministries take form in diverse areas of Christian Social Justice. In June 2013, The Church of the Red Rocks’ Church Council, recognizing the important part that Social Justice has in the life of our denomination, formally established the Social Justice committee (SJC). Join us on the second Monday each month for PFLAG meetings.
